NEXT GEN FINANCE SUMMIT and NexGen PIM for Businesses Summit - TECH TREK EVENTS, ESTONIA

Open Banking, Financial Payment Solutions, financial technology, blockchain, payment integration and many more. This is the focus on these regular summits every month or every other month in a local San Francisco, CA hotel.

Such Events are organized by TECH TREK EVENTS in Estonia with the assistance of the local SF hotel who has the food permit during the one day conference.   These events seems very promising showcasing live streaming to answer the question of low attendance.

They kind of say there are more online attendees.

On top of this, One on One meeting appointments are advertised but there are no scheduled meetings. The idea is that one on one meetings can be arranged during the events and the sponsors live presentations.

Tech Trek Events normally contacts staff like myself and other probable event managers. They staff their event four (4) days before the actual event via WhatsApp. One would wonder why their preferred communication is entirely using WhatsApp.

Since they are disorganized they will immediately ask if you can manage their event for $200 or $250 for the one day conference. They want you to come as early as 7:30 am to ensure the breakfast being served in the hotel are set as well as the event materials are laid one and shipments open such as banners, etc.., on the contract they send.

However since the 4 days before when they contact you, they also expect you to find office supplies and printing suppliers so they can print attendee badges, they try to be desperate for help so you try to help out find suppliers. You are already working without being compensated.

Interestingly this June 20, when they finally got connected with a local printing supplier, suddenly they want me to pay for the entire cost from the supplier to almost $800. The reason they say is that they are not allowed to give credit cards or issue credit card authorizations for payment.

I said "what" a Financial summit with major big financial company sponsors and partners in the US would not like to use a credit card for payment for their own event materials?  So as result with the kindness of heart I paid the supplier using my debit card. They POC ask for my bank wire transfer details so they can send the money to repay me.

Again until the 3rd week of July, they cannot even show proof of receipt of a bank wire transfer. I even showed them what it looks like from a googled image on one of their affiliates, Wells Fargo. One would probably say I got scam. Yes but I got scam by all these big financial bigwigs in the finance industry. Why? I managed the one day event so all the said materials were used to the event and the event closed at 5:30 pm on 6/24/25.

On top of this, I was ask to bring a laptop. I was thinking it maybe needed in case there were last minute registrations. I was wrong, they needed my laptop the entire time in front of the podium to be used by their major speakers and presenters to show their PowerPoint presentations. Good I also brought my IPAD as their host need to read the missing paragraphs on her script.

Even in the past I was told they have low physical attendance so they use live streaming to showcase that they have a lot of online attendees. I was also ask to take a lot of pictures using my smart phone so they can post them on social media. On top of the individual, group text for the event team and calls they kept calling and texting me using WhatsApp on my phone.

As of this writing, they still keep saying they sent a wire transfer without any proof but just sending a screenshot of the bank details I originally sent them to send the payment.

They used different contacts on their website as contact from a Joblin, Chris, Kristy, Melanie etc., of whom I had emailed all to follow-up what their plan is for payment.

Not only they owe me for the event materials I paid in their behalf, they also owe me the contracted fee, admin fee and electronic device usage in California.

During the event, I had a phone discussion with them as one of their major sponsors kept asking me about their advertise one on one meetings. They want to know the times of the meetings. I was told to let them know that said one on one meetings develops during the event and will be scheduled as such if there were interested parties.

You can just tell why every monthly conference in San Francisco  they need new event staff, why?  because they scam people and don't pay them and used them.

These scam needs to stop. What a shame to use all this financial literacies summit.

Here is the upcoming event they have in San Francisco where there is no information whatsoever about how much the job pays, how you are paid and other information. They claim to be a company for the event itself on linkedin.com

Prop 22 Exemption How It Can Impact the Promotions Industry in San Francisco

February 2020 the  RSA Conference was  one of the last talk about conferences this year prior to San Francisco's Covid-19 shut down. Till today the entire Brand Ambassador's market is till suffering thanks to the Federal and State funded EDD.

Notwithstanding, the State and City of the San Francisco has gone a long way in the last 4-5years in supporting this industry in re-classifying independent contractors to employees. We have seen and experienced from unpaid breaks, meals, over time to unpaid sick time and now to to this suffering pandemic.

While, it is very much understood the ride sharing has their own circumstances such asA YES vote on this measure means: App-based rideshare and delivery companies could hire drivers as independent contractors. Drivers could decide when, where, and how much to work but would not get standard benefits and protections that businesses must provide employees.  This was the same scenarios we had as independent contractors in the promotions industry. The question lies now is that if this Yes vote prevails will it now ignite a series of scenarios to affect the promotions industry? Hopefully, there will be no ignition now from marketing companies hiring promotions brand ambassadors to follow the same path that Uber, Lyft and Door Dash has made?

Nevertheless, A NO vote on this measure means: App-based rideshare and delivery companies would have to hire drivers as employees if the courts say that a recent state law makes drivers employees. Drivers would have less choice about when, where, and how much to work but would get standard benefits and protections that businesses must provide employees. Based on what we have experience on the promotions industry as a reflection just to give an insight, we actually got some protection as we were able to claim when we were not being paid on time in general. Being pad on time a accurately was the biggest challenge you have as an independent contractor as you do not have that protection when your an employee.

I guess will have to watch what happens to this proposition but my only take is that for how this goes on the ballot will be carefully watch as it will affect a lot of what's already in place.

Realities in the Promotions Industry in San Francisco

It's great busy Bay Area weekend this June 24-26, 2016 with simultaneous promotional events in the San Francisco  Bay Area.

The big Nascar Race is going on then the Alameda County Fair and nonetheless the big San Francisco Pride Weekend where almost all the promo peeps are working back and forth in the Bay Area.

It's great to see how these events have grown through the years as it's really the excitement in working them that's it's all about.

As I reminisce back while getting all these back and forth messages between promo brand ambassadors and promotional staffing agencies, though the events and staff have grown the same realities prevail.

The facts are:

Promo Agencies:
Head shots, Clients selections, Core Personnel versus glamorous young pretty faces and hot bods.

Brand Ambassadors:
Best pay, best hours, most easiet jobs, perks, travel time, do I work both or which one?

With the given facts the same realities expectations as always.

Promo agencies get as much as many submissions regardless, for hard areas involving travel may or may not use core personnel, for high profile ones and clients pleasure book the pretty and hots.

Brand Ambassadors best pay, best hours, less travel and best perks but can be accommodating depending on the relationships and or who pays first and fast.

Come Dee Day, the barrage of Emergency and Urgent booking emails due to cancellations from promo agencies. What's really funny the not that hot and not that pretty anymore is desperately being requested to possibly work due to this cancellations.

So it's really dependent on the BA's how desperate they need work to reconsider and so and so.

My take on this over the years, it only takes me 3 strikes on my terms when a promo agency discriminates me considering they know I'm really very hardworking and reliable. If you been around in the industry and a good reputation it depends on each person but me "Adios". But when it comes to payment discrepancies and not paying on time it only takes 1 strike and I'm done.

Considering there is no working relationship is most of these jobs are they are 1099's  which hopefully the State are eventually all going to convert to W2's, hey these are the realities and it's up to each one to make to decisions.
